FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An extensive ridge of pressure to the south of the Tasman Sea extends over the South Island. A depression over the northern Tasman is developing and moving slowly eastwards. Forecast:—
Canterbury.—Winds, mainly light southerlies or easterlies; cloudy and cool; a few patches of drizzle during the morning. Outlook: cloudy with scattered rain. West Coast and Nelson.—Light to moderate variable winds; fine at first, but becoming cloudy; moderate temperatures. Outlook: scattered rain developing, chiefly in Nelson.
Marlborough.—Moderate southerlies and some isolated showers near the coast; fine weather inland, with light variable winds; cool temperatures. Outlook: occasional rain, especially near the coast.
