COTTON MILL AT NELSON
Report Of Failure Of Deal Denied
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 26. Negotiations on the proposed £4 million cotton mill for Nelson are still proceeding, a representative of the British firm of Smith and Nephew Associated Companies, Ltd., Mr A. H. Giles, said in Auckland today.
He declined to comment further on reports that the deal had fallen through. x The Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr Skinner) and the Secretary of Industries and Commerce (Dr. W. B. Sutch) have also denied the reports. Mr Skinner said he expected the Government would be formally notified if the scheme was in jeopardy.
