Hoon Hay State Houses
Sir,—lt is difficult to understand the official reluctance to publish the details of-the farm for State housing at Hoon Hay. It is situated in. Hendersons road, between Halswell and Sparks road. It is surrounded on all sides by rural land though only a narrow strip separates it from Hoon' Hay Park and opposite the farm buildings is another dairy where up to 100 cows are milked. Some time ago the property was said to be in the green belt but this belt must contain plenty of elastic as there appears no limit to the extent which the corporation inside it can expand. The regrettable, though avoidable, loss of this farm will not in any way be enhanced by the fact that the houses on it will be built under State sponsorship.—Yours, etc., HORRIE FYDE. April 10, 1960.
