CHURCH PARADE FOR CADETS

Girls’ Life Brigade

More than 1200 visitors and members of the Girls’ Life Brigade were present at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon, after the parade of divisional cadet sections of the brigade. Led by the Boys’ Life Brigade band, the cadets marched from Latimer square to Cashel street by way of Madras street. They were preceded by two officers carrying the Union Jack and the blue and gold divisional flag. A cadet carried the company colours of red and white. Aged between six and nine years, the cadets made a trim procession in their navy gym tunics, white blouses and jaunty naw berets.

The divisional chaplain (the Rev. L. V Willing) conducted the service at St. Paul’s and gave the address. The prayer was led by the Rev K. Ogier and the scr!nture lesson was read by the Rev I. Armstrong. The Rev. Stuart Francis welcomed those present.

The divisional officer co imanding cadets (Miss F Ingles) led the cadets in repeating their law and promise. With conclusion of the service the congregation gathered outside to see the colours dismissed.
