PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING
Secretary Bidden Farewell The secretary of the Christchurch branch of the Plunket Society (Miss L. M. Scott) was bidden farewell by members at a recent meeting. Miss Scott has been granted leave of absence for seven months as she is planning an extended trip overseas. The president (Mrs A Rose) presented Miss Scott with a cheque. Among those present at the meeting was Miss J. M. Horner, who is retiring from the position at matron of the Karitane Hospital after nine years. Mrs Rose paid tribute to Miss Horner’s work during that time and presented her with a table lamp. Members were informed that since the last meeting of the branch £3lO 10s had been received in donations for the new Karitane Hospital. The secretary of the Karitane Nurses* Bureau reported that of the 39 cases booked during March there had been only one case where it was not possible to send a nurse.
Farther plans were made at this meeting for the market day that will be held on May 7 in aid of the society. Good support had been promised by country branches and also by local subbpnehes.
