The Dairy Products Marketing Commission said today that the increase in supplies of cheese to the United Kingdom market had made a reduction in the price more or less inevitable. The current season’s arrivals in the United Kingdom from Australia and New Zealand were now approaching their seasonal maximum. The main overseas suppliers of Cheddar were New Zealand, Australia, and to a lesser extent, Holland, but the largest supplier of all was the United Kingdom itself. The future course of prices would depend to a large extent on the level of United Kingdom domestic production.
