SMITHFIELD MARKET
Good Demand For Lamb
Demand for all meat continued to be very good on the London market last week, according to cabled advice received from the London office of the Bank of New Zealand.
“Beef is firm in spite of the large arrivals of Argentine chilled stock. Home-killed lambs are short and stocks of imported are low. This is helping to keep up the price of new season’s New Zealand lamb. Supplies from overseas are increasing. “Imported wether mutton is dearer as a result of the short supply,” the bank says.
The Imported Meat Trade Association's quotations for New Zealand meat, ex hooks Smithfield, in the week ended January 15, with the variation since the previous week, are as follows: Canterbury Lamb
