Elderly Cricketer Dies During Game

One of the oldest active cricketers in the Hutt Valley, Mr S. McArthur, of York Bay, whose age was given by friends as “in his middle sixties,” collapsed and died while batting at the Hutt Recreation Ground on Saturday. Mr McArthur, who was batting for the Hutt club’s fourth grade A hit a ball and started to run, but his partner sent him back.
He had just got back to the crease when he collapsed. An ambulance drove out on to the pitch, but Mr McArthur is believed to have died as he fell
