NELSON BUTCHERS SELL VENISON

Consignments By Air From Karamea

(From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, January 12. Nelson residents are now able to buy fresh venison in the butchers’ shops. The first consignment from Karamea arrived by air yesterday. The deer were shot by Mr R. Turk in the Wangapeka Valley and transported out by Mr W. F. Evans in an Auster aircraft. “Down south, they are selling venison to the United States,” said Mr Evans. “If it is good enough for the United States, it should be good enough for Nelson butchers.”

The Departments of Health and Agriculture approve. If the scheme proves popular and the demand warrants it, Mr Evans considers that he could supply up to 5001 b of vennson dail Y- uA hangi, prepared for a big barbecue at Nelson last Saturday night, contained the meat of six deer, as well as of eight pigs and 15 sheep.
