Building Permits For December
There were 311 building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council in December—five more than in December, 1958according to the councils latest building permit summary. The permits, for work valued at £364,848, take the total since the end of last March to £3349 346 more than in the same months of the year before. Work worth £4,045,105 is covered by the permits, against £3,741,208 in 1958. However, only five permits issued last month were for work in the inner central area of Christchurch; nine fewer than in December, 1958. There were 14 permits for the city’s outer central area; two more than the year before. Linwood, up 15 to 80, Sydenham, up 9 to 36, and New Brighton up 6 to 56, were other parts of the city where more Permits were issued last month than in the December before. Fewer permits were issued for st Albans, down 3 to 62, Spreydon down 9 to 33, and Woolston, d °Sumner° had eight permits, the same as December, 1958, but covered work worth £307 less.
