Wedding With Girl Aged 19

Earl Beatty, aged 54, today . the 19-year-old stepdaughter of a mushroom farmer ms fourth Countess in the vfi? 1S t ry Office of the picturesque little town of Midhurst in Sussex. The father of Diane Kirk, the onde, had told newspapers he would do his best to stop the wedding. But there were no incidents as the Earl and Diane posed for photographers in the market square after the 15minute ceremony. The new countess was accompanied by her mother and stepfather, Captain and Mrs Duncan Kirk. Her father, a 46-year-old boat-builder, Mr Jack Blundell, has married again since his earlier marriage was dissolved. He had been planning to see a solicitor to discuss moves to stop the wedding when he heard it had already taken place. The earl and his bride later today boarded the liner Queen Mary for the United States. Lord Beatty’s three previous marriages were dissolved. He is the son of Admiral Beatty, British sea hero of World War I.
