Crippled Children Society Approves Recommendations

WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. Approval of a number of recommendations from its special committee set up to deal' with co-ordination of services was given by the New Zealand Crippled Children Society at its bi-annual conference in Wellington today. The special committee has been dealing with the survey for the last two years. Recommendations so far approved were:— (1) That provision should be made for one of the branches to provide initial training facilities for newly appointed field officers or secretaries. (2) That field officers’ courses, ( as well as conferences, be provided. (3) That there should be direct representation of Maori interests oh the central organisation and in the appropriate branches and (4) That there be a recommendation to branches that there be specific Maori representation in areas where it applies. Carefully selected young persons should be encouraged to take a., active part? in all aspects of crippled children’s work, said the text of a recommendation to branches which was approved. Referred to the council with power to act was a recommendation, which said that the New Zealand council appoint two committees, the first a professional committee, and the second an advisory committee on programme and finance.
The report was prepared on the analysis of material gathered from a questionnaire prepared by Professor H. E. Field (Canterbury)
and Mr A. G. Cook (Auckland). Considerable assistance had been received, in preparing the questionnaire, from Miss S. E. Rae (Auckland) and later in preparation of the report from Miss June Opie.
