RETIREMENT OF MR BEEBY
Farewell Functions In Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. T he retiring Director of Education (Mr C. E. Beeby) was bidden farewell by the staff and students at the . Ardmore Teachers’ College today. The principal (Mr T. Wilson) said that Mr Beeby had changed secondary education from an academic course by providing a wide variety of subjects. He had developed intermediate schools and he had provided education for all handicapped children. He had also abolished the proficiency certificate, so that all children could go to high school.
Mr and Mrs Beeby were presented with pottery by Mr Wilson on behalf of the staff and students.
Mr Beeby was also bidden farewell by the Auckland Teachers' College, and was entertained by the University of Auckland authorities.
