Van Driver Fatally Injured
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 1. A man was badly injured and later died in hospital when the van he was driving left the road ran along the footpath, and struck a power pole in Beach road, Castor Bay, Auckland, yesterday afternoon. He was: Mr P. L. Wong, a greengrocer, of Mairangi Bay. The impact snapped the pole in two about 9ft from the ground. Mr Wong suffered severe injuries to the head and chest and died in the North Shore Hospital. Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress what is evil; our great hope lies in developing what is good.— Calvin Coolidge.
