G. Moss Beats A. D. L. Hunter •
G. Moss, a young tennis player who has been in good form this season, had a further success last evening when he beat A. D. L. Hunter, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2, in a ladder ranking match. Results were:—
G. Moss beat A. D. L. Hunter, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2; C. W. Pritchard beat B. J. Shirlaw, 6-1, 6-2; A. Trembath beat B. Aldridge, 8-6, 7-5; W. Thom beat B. W. Crofts, 6-1, 6-1; B. Judge beat R. Minson, 6-3. 8-6; R. Watson beat T. Harneiss, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3; R. Neumann beat V. Price, 6-2, 7-5. In the women’s ranking matches good performances were given by the Avonside players. Mesdames P. Leopold and D. McKinnel. Mrs McKinnel beat Mrs L. Fitzgerald, at one time fourth ranked in New Zealand, 6-1, 6-1. Mrs Fitzgerald has not played a great deal this season. Results were:—
Mrs P. Leopold beat Mrs E. Campbell, 7-5, 6-2; Mrs D. McKinnel beat Mrs L. Fitzgerald, 6-1, 6-1; Miss C. Smith beat Miss L. Mardon, 6-2, 6-2: Miss K. Williams beat Miss R. Jones, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3; Miss M. Mollinson beat Miss B. Blackburn. 6-3, 7-5; Miss J. Edwards beat Miss B. Dawson. 6-4, 5-7, 6-4; Miss M. Gorrie beat Miss J. Hatch. 7-5, 4-6, 6-0; Mrs A. Ryan beat Miss S. Mackay, 4-6, 6-3, 8-6.
