Craig To Captain N.S.W.
(NZ. Press Association— Copvright) SYDNEY, Nov. 12. The former Australian test cricket captain, I. D. Craig, has been selected to lead the New South Wales team in the first inter-State Sheffield Shield match of the season. New South Wales will meet Queensland in Brisbane from November 20 to 24. Craig recently toured the Transvaal with a Commonwealth XI. In several innings he showed the form which gained him the captaincy of the Australian team to South Africa in 1957. One critic said of Craig’s selection today: “There is no doubt that Craig . . . will be the Australian Board of Control’s choice as captain of the Australian second eleven to tour New Zealand early next year.” Australia’s first team is at present touring Pakistan and India.
