Spike Heels
Sir, —The quickest way to stop women from wearing spike heels would be to have photographers with movie cameras in town and show the films at local cinemas. Not once have I seen an attractive, comfortable walk by stilt-heel wearers who limp, wobble, stumble, scrape and mince on heels that quiver, bend backwards or inwards, and cause women to look heavy-footed. Note the short-stepping ugliness of their movements, compared with the lilt of correctly shod women who walk easily from the hips, enjoying walking for its own sake. Apart from damage to health, beauty and property, stilt heels, like all absurd extremes of fashion, do not show good taste in dress.—Yours, etc.,
