Last Meeting For Miss C. Robinson

Miss C. Robinson, president of the Y.W.C.A. board of directors piesided for the last time at a meeting of the board recently, before her retirement which will ■ake ace the annual meeting oi the association in September. Miss Robinson said how much she had personally gained from the office of president. She had previously had no idea of the wide implications of Y.W.C.A work either locally or at national and world levels. “It has been a most enriching experience,” she said.

Miss Robinson has been a member of the board for seven years a P res ident for three years. Mrs Owen Mitchell, senior vicepresident, made a presentation to Miss Robinson on behalf of the board and expressed warm appreciation of her leadership. Mrs B. Gowan, a member oi the board, who will leave for Stratford, was bidden farewell and thanked for her valuable heln with Y.W.C.A. clubs in Hornby and Islington.

It was announced that a new table for the board room would be dedicated by the Rev. D. D Thorpe on September 15 when former board members will be invited. Mr Roy McKenzie, a son pf Sir John McKenzie to whom the board room will be a memorial, will attend.

The appointment of Mrs L. Blackler as assistant matron at k atln 2, er hostel was announced. Mrs Blackler was for some years matron of Riverlaw hostel. t W. G. V. Fernie and Miss Ivy Webb reported on arrangements for the Y.W.C.A. street appeal which will be held on October 9. Funds collected will go to the support of Youth clubs. The programme committee was given permission to investigate the possibilities of purchasing a him projector for the use of clubs
