GIRLS’ LIFE BRIGADE
Rakaia Company Activities
The Rev. G. Yearbury took the service when the first company of the Rakaia Girls’ Life Brigade held its second annual church parade in the Methodist church at Rakaia recently.
All members of the company have passed an examination in safety. Mr R. Miller was the examiner. An evening for the presentation of badges will be held on September 7 in St. Mark’s Hall, when badges for floral art, safety, scripture (seniors), hobbies, swimming and music will be presented to the girls who have qualified. At the annual meeting of the advisory committee the following officers were elected:—President. Mrs T. Shannon; vice-president. Mrs T. Archer: secretarytreasurer. Mrs G. McGeorge; advisory committee. Mesdames L. Cromie. L. Hopwood, R. Baker. C. Currie, and F. Sheridan. The president (Mrs Shannon) thanked Captain Donald, Lieutenant A. Kerslake. and Cadet Leader. Miss P. Hopwood, for their leadership in the last year and wished them every success in the next year. The committee wishes to thank all friends who gave donations during Girls’ Life Brigade week. Brigade members will be assisting in the sales of health stamps in Rakaia in September.
