General Lockhart Resigns <New Zealand Press Association i WELLINGTON, July 20. Major-General L. K. Lockhart who, since November, 1953, has been Dominion Chief Commissioner of -the Boy Scouts’ Association of New Zealand, has tendered his resignation. At the time of his appointment, MajorGeneral Lockhart had been in New Zealand tor only some 18 months, after his retirement from the British Army, anl had taken up farming near New Plymouth In the period of nearly six years since he took over as chief executive of the Boy Scout movement, he has seen the numbers of uniformed members grow from 23.000 to 40,000. There has been a corresponding rise in the number of uniformed helpers, and today the movement has considerably more than 50,000 members. General Lockhart’s services have been recognised by the award of the Silver Wolf decoration.
