NOTIFIABLE DISEASES
Two Deaths Last Week ' The death of a small child from cerebro spinal fever last week “certainly does not mean we have an epidemic—we get these cases occasionally," said the Deputy-Medical Officer of Health (Dr. W. I. Paterson) yesteroay. Dr. Paterson was commenting on one of the two deaths from notifiable diseases reported to the Department of Health last week. The other death reported was from tuberculosis. The mock cream filling in a cake was the suspected cause of food poisoning in a young woman. “We have not finished with this case yet as we are waiting for the bacteriologist’s report,” said Dr. Paterson. Other diseases notified to the department last week were two cases of pneumonic influenza, two of ophthalmia neonatorum, two of infective hepatitis (jaundice), and one of tuberculosis.
