TOWN HAIL EFFORTS
Review Suggested By Committee Town Hall Promotion will be asked by its publicity committee to consider fixing a programme of events and a closing date for its appeal so that those working on special efforts and the publie may know just how far they will be committed. The chairman of the committee •Mr P. J. Skellerup) said yesterday that his members felt there was a danger of waning interest if workers and the public believed the effort was “going on for ever.” They also felt that efforts should be concentrated on a few major projects rather than dissipate forces and public goodwill on a lot which might entail much work for a comparatively small return in relation to the outlay. These comments in no way suggested that fund-raising projects already scheduled should be curtailed, Mr Skellerup said They simply suggested that all supporters would prefer a concerted effort toward an attainable target. Some members of the committee thought that straight house-to-house appeals such as "Operation Doorknock” in which every household might be invited to contribute substantially once a year and then left alone, had a good deal of merit, Mr Skellerup said These statements were made from his committee to test . the public reaction before the next meeting of the general committee of Town Hall Promotion. Mr Skellerup said.
