TRAVEL SURVEY IN CHRISTCHURCH
Fine Response In Sample Croup
Magnificent co-operation from Christchurch citizens in the pilot travel survey questionnaire, which a sample group was asked to answer last Wednesday, was reported yesterday by the Regional Planning Office (Miss Nancy Northcroft). Five hundred and ninety forms (to be answered for each person over three years of age) were distributed to 180 households, Miss Northcroft said. Each member of the household was asked to say where he went. why. and by what means. “Five hundred and sixty-seven of the 590 have completed the forms; only two households refused- to accept the forms, and only one other person declined to fill it in. We will call back on a few who were out,” said Miss Northcroft. Such an excellent response would give invaluable guidance in planning the major survey later in the year, when 3000 of the 60.000 households in Christchurch would be asked to answer similar questions. Miss Northcroft said. She hoped this week’s co-operation was a happy augury for the response to the questionnaire in the spring.
