90th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED
Mrs J. Radford, Of
Gebbies Valiev
Mrs Jessie Radford, Gebbies Valley, will celebrate her ninetieth birthday tomorrow. The Women's Division of Federated Farmers held a party in her honour at Motukarara yesterday afternoon.
There were 30 women present when a presentation was made to Mrs Radford. The beautifully crotcheted cloth on the table at the party was an example of the fine work she can still do.
Mrs Radford is also an expert knitter and supplies garments to the Red Cross Society’s Good Neighbour Service. Age has not affected her skill as a household manager, and she keeps house for two of her sons at Gebbies Valley.
Mrs Radford was born in Gebbies Valley and the sod house the family used to live in still stands at the foot of the pass She married a farmer and has been a staunch member of the W.D.F.F for many years.
Her two sons, Messrs F. Radford and C. Radford, are farmers, another son lives at Lincoln and a fourth son lives in Christchurch. Her only daughter. Mrs L. Crump, also lives in Christchurch.
