Sylvia Casablancas, aged 19. friend of the Aga Khan, has left her London finishing school ... a school that specialises in preparing girls for marrage. Now friends are forecasting that her engagement to the Aga Khan will be announced later this year —making her destined to “become the next Begum, wife of the spiritual leader of millions.
For the present. Miss Casablancas has taken a job in a Geneva antique shop. It is believed that she will marry the Aga Khan when he has completed his studies at Harvard University.
Miss Casablancas. beautiful daughter of a wealthy Mexican inventor. has known the Aga Khan since she was aged 10. They met through her brother. Fernando, a great friend of the Aga Khan, then Prince Karim, at Le Rosay School in Switzerland.
They have been on ski-ing holidays together; they “saw in” the last New Year together. Now Sylvia wears a sapphire diamond ring on her engagement finger.
Miss Casablancas has attended a secretarial college in Geneva, and in London she studied a wide variety of subjects—history of art. journalism, dress-making, home nursing, public speaking, current affairs, and international history. Most students at this 130-guineas-a-term school marry young. One former puoil. Princess Ira. married at the age of 15.
