NEW CARPET COMPANY
N.Z.-U.K. Venture In Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 28. Carpet production by Tattersfield, Ltd., Auckland, is expected to be trebled within the next two years as a result of an association with a Kidderminster carpet manufacturing company. Brintons. Ltd.
Mr J. H. Lemon, a director and general manager of the English firm, said in Auckland tonight that a new £lOO.OOO company was to be formed in which Tattersfield. Ltd., would hold 60 per cent, of the capital and Brintons, Ltd., 40 per cent. The English firm would supply modern plant and each company would make large cash contributions for working capital. The number of workers employed at the factory would rise from 100 at present to about 200 and key workers would come from England. ’Brintons were taking the step of investing in a factory in New Zealand because of the losses suffered by the company through New Zealand import restrictions, Mr Lemon said. He added that he had had talks with the Prime Minister (Mr Nash), who had given the scheme his wholehearted approval.
