May 27 A seven-member delegation representing about 40 African, West Indian, Asian, and British organisations (jailed at the Home Office today to request protection for coloured people against racial intolerance. The delegation asked for extra police patrols for the Notting Hill area of London—scene of last summer’s race riots—and also for legislation to make it illegal to incite racial hatred against coloured people. The delegation was drawn from the co-ordinating committee of the various national organisations which have expressed grave anxiety about the possible recurrence of last year's racial troubles.
