Sprinter May Not Run Again
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) CHICAGO, May 13. The Olympic sprinter, Ira Murchison, has undergone surgery that may mean the end of his track career. The 26-year-old member of the 1956 United States Olympic team was operated upon yesterday in Chicago’s Veterans Hospital to correct a diseased colon. Officials said his condition is satisfactory. Murchison and two other sprinters share the world record of lO.lsec for the 100 metres.
