Sumner Sea Wall

Sir, —M. Jennings’s letter suggests the Sumner residents have no concern for their own safeguard. No doubt half of the Sumner residents see the imperative need of the protective sea wall and only pride and pigheadedness drive their argument. For them 1 am desperately sorry, for indeed the almighty sea will surely wash away the “wonderful landscape” before their very eyes. Let no-one impede; the embankment is absolutely necessary.—Yours, etc., DEC. May 5, 1959.
