VISCOUNTS TO MILSON
Effect Of Delay To Rongotai
“The Preu" Special SanHca WELLINGTON. Dec. 10. The National Airways Corporation plans to run a Viscount service through Milson airport, Palmerston North, thereby cutting some of the loss over the delay in the opening of Rongotai airport at Wellington. Mr J. J. Busch, general manager of N.A.C., said that extensions to Milson airport—the alternative bad weather field to Bongotai for years to come—would be finished by March 12 next year. N.A.C. would certainly be flying a Viscount in there to relieve the pressure of the loss of between £48,000 and £50.000 a month which the airline will suffer with Rongotai delayed and three Viscount aircraft available. Mr Busch said it would be difficult to charter one of tile Viscounts while waiting for Rongotai to be finished. Companies had different specifications for radio and navigation aids, «nd for short term alterations to equipment would not be economic. “We will just have to take it,” he commented, when confirming the loss of up to £50.000 a month until Rongotai opened.
