PRISONERS ESCAPE
Murder Charge Likely (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 27. A warder was killed when two prisoners escaped from Bathurst Gaol, New South Wales, today. Both the men were recaptured and the Attorney-General for New South Wales (Mr Robert Downing) said later that he anticipated that a murder charge would be laid against the men. The men were caught after they had driven away from the gaol in a utility truck which had been parked nearby. The truck collided with a hearse in a funeral procession. Drivers of vehicles in the procession chased the escaped prisoners, who were cornered in a back yard. A local policeman caught one of the men and a warder who arrived soon after captured the other man.
