Auckland Woman Dies At 105
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 25.
Mrs Emily Aylett who, on her 101st birthday expressed a wish to live and see Auckland get its harbour bridge and New Zealand get television, died in Auckland on Friday night. Mrs Aylett, who lived with her daughter, Miss N. Aylett, at Glendowie, celebrated her 105th birthday three weeks ago. Born in Herne Bay, Mrs Aylett lived all her life in Auckland, leaving the city on one occasion only for a short visit to Sydney. She had never been in hospital. The eldest child of Mr James Vann Marston, one of the city’s earliest solicitors, she married the late Mr William Alfred Aylett, of Thames. She is survived by two daughters and two sons.
The Minister of Education (Mr Skoglund) has a full programme in Christchurch today. After discussions with the Free Kindergarten Association in Christchurch at 11.30 a.m. he will officially open the new Thorrington street primary school at 2 p.m. In the evening he will visit the Christchurch Craft Centre.
