OPOSSUM SKIN SUBSIDY
Scheme To Continue Till 1960
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 25.
The Minister of Forests (Mr Tirikatene) announced today that the national opossum bounty and skin subsidy scheme will be' continued at the same rate until March 31, 1960, and will then be terminated.
In making the decision to terminate payments in 1960, Mr Tirikatene said the Government recognised that modern poisons promised more positive control in the problem areas.
Almost 500,000 tokens have been received so far this financial year.
