FISH PRICES COMPARED
Stabilisation Sought (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, September 23. A comparison of auction floor prices in the Canterbury area compared with the fixed prices operating in the Dunedin district must lend some weight to the fish retailers’ application for stabilisation of the industry in this territory. Prices quoted in Dunedin today, with yesterday’s market prices for Canterbury in parenthesis, were:—red cod 5d (lid), elephant fish B*&d (lid), flounders and soles Is 7d (2s), groper Is 4d (2s 3d), ling fid (Is), tarakihi 7d (graded from 5d to 7d). The tendency in Dunedin is for prices to fall, but there is no indication of a price drop In the Canterbury district. Prices realised in the Canterbury market on Friday were the same as yesterday except for groper, which' was Is lOd as against 2s 3d, and gurnard, 4d, compared with 5d yesterday.
