NEW CATHOLIC SCHOOL

£50,000 Building At Oamaru "The Press" Special Service OAMARU, June 22. A new Roman Catholic primary school and hall are to be built in Oamaru. The new buildings, which will face on to Reed street, will probably cost about £50.000

The six-roomed school will replace the 76-year-old St. Joseph's School, which was built originally as a church and school combined. The one-storey school building will accommodate about 250 pupils. The hall is designed to seat 500. and it can be extended into a supper room. School and hall will cover 14,000 square feet. The buildings will be of concrete, but Oamaru stone veneer on the outside and contrasting panels of native woods on the inside are planned in the design. The buildings will be on a section adjoining St. Patrick’s Boys’ School.
