Some animals can apparently exist in environments so cold they ; would be fatal to other animals 'that are seemingly anatomically I identical. One of these is the [Arctic cod, which can live in waters eight degrees colder than in which the cod of more (temperate climate lives. Research 'has shown that an enzyme that [occurs in all cods has been 'altered in a small but essential [manner in the Arctic cod, thus |enabling it to withstand such cold.,
