Series Of Seminars To Be Held
(New Zeatana Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 2. The first of a series of seminars on the care of the aged to be held in New Zealand will be held in Wellington from April 15 to April 17. the Minister of Health (Mr Mason) announced today. It would be conducted fog the matrons, managers, and assistant matrons Of homes for old people in the Wellington. Wairarapa. Nelson, and Marlborough hospital districts, the Minister said. The next seminar would be at Christchurch, and similar gatherings at Auckland. Dunedin, and Palmerston North would be held later.
“The seminars, organised by the Department of Health in conjunction with the Advisory Committee on the Care of the Aged, mark a further advance in the co-ordination of work for the benefit of old people." the Minister said. “There has undoubtedly been, in recent years, a growth of appreciation of the needs of the aged, and in conjunction with this practical steps have been taken to meet these needs. Much has been or is being accomplished. but there is still a very wide field to cover." The theme of the first seminar would be human relationships in an old people’s home. To some extent the seminar would be experimental. said the Minister, and the model for future seminars would be based on the experience gained initially.
