Mr Austad Amplifies Statement
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 2. Mr H. I Austad, president of the New Zealand Olympic and Emoire Carnes Association, today amplified remarks made in Auckland when he was reported in a Press Association message as having said that «ince four runners. Halberg. Scott. Magee, and Baillie, had been nominated for the three miles al the Cardiff Games, the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association would have to decide which one would be omitted as only three could compete in each event.
Mr Austad said he would like to make it clear that there had been r.o excessive entries for env event in any sport. The numbers permitted varied. Tn athletics, it was Permissible to have a maximum of four, he said.
Sheep Dog Trials.—Mr R. M. Wilson's Trump was placed fourth in the sheep dog trials at the Easter Show at Auckland yesterday. (P.A.).
