BULLER RIVER TRIP
Mountaineers’ Plans For Easter
A full passage of the Buller river, from its source at Lake Rotoiti to its mouth at Westport, 105 miles away, will be attempted by a small party from the Canterbury Mountaineering Club this week-end. Six men in three four-man rubber dinghies will enter the waters of the lake early on Friday morning, after driving by truck from Christchurch. Another six will follow the course of the river by road, keeping in contact with the dinghy party at convenient points. They expect to reach Westport on Monday, after camping on the riverbank during their passage. The whole party will then return to Christchurch by truck.
