DUTCH GIRL’S MURDER

Fate Foretold, Newspaper Says (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, March 20. A murdered Dutch girl, Mary Kriek, had her fate foretold by a fortune teller at The Hague in Holland five weeks before she was found battered to death in a ditch in Essex, according to the “Daily Sketch.”

Detectives investigating the murder had now appealed through Interpol to the Dutch police to talk to the fortuneteller, it said.

Four points in his prediction had come true: She would have a premonition of death. (On Saturday, January 5, before she left a farm near Colchester she had said: “If I don’t come back you will get a black-edged card instead.”) She would be killed. after seeing a film with the word “death” in its title. (In London, the afternoon before she’ was killed she had seen the film “Count Five and Die.”) She would die on a spot earlier associated with death. (Her bus had let her off 300 yards from a road junction called Gallow’s Corner.) She would die in England although it was her intention to stay in Britain only a year.

The “Daily Sketch” added that she was born under the sign of Gemini—on May 31, 1938.
