Sir William Slim’s Term Extended

(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, March 21. The term of the GovernorGeneral of Australia (Sir William Slim) will be extended indefinitely beyond the usual five years. His term is due to end next month.

The Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) said today that this had been agreed on in discussions between the Government, Sir William Slim and the Queen. The extension, although for an indefinite term, would probably be at least a year and possibly a little longer.
