Golf Commonwealth Tournament

The South African Golf Union wishes to - hold the 1959 Commonwealth golf tournament at the Royal Johannesburg Golf Club, from November 3 to 7. The union decided at its annual meeting today to recommend the venue and date to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. lan Harvey Going To Wellington The Waitikiri golfer, lan Harvey, has been transferred to Wellington. Harvey, a brilliant attacking golfer, was beaten by E. J. MacDougall, who won the title, in a semi-final of the last New Zealand amateur championship. Harvey hopes that he will still be eligible for the Canterbury team for the Freyberg Rosebowl interprovincial contest at Nelson in May. The secretary of the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association (Mr G. W. A. Green) has written to the New Zealand association seeking a ruling on Harvey’s eligibility. »
