Cricket SOBERS TO TURN PROFESSIONAL

Garfield Sobers, who recently broke a 20-year test cricket record by carrying his bat for 365 runs against Pakistan, will turn professional for the Radcliffe Cricket Club, Lancashire. Sobers, who is only 21, has been unable to find a job in his native Barbados since leaving school, the American Associated Press reported. In a 8.8. C. radio link between Leeds, Yorkshire, and Barbados last night, Sir Leonard Hutton congratulated Sobers on breaking his world record. Wilson scored a record 127 in the women’s cricket test against England at the Adelaide Oval today. The previous highest test score was by M. Hide, of England, who made 124 not out against Australia in Sydney in 1949. Australia’s first innings ended today at 292. England, in its first innings, was 63 for four wickets at stumps.
