Mattress Production
Inner-spring mattresses appear to be increasing in popularity in New Zealand. In the 1956-57 production year the output rose to 46.700, valued at £477,000, compared with 39.700 valued at £418,000 in 1955-56. Soft-mattress production continued its steady fall, however. Excluding cot mattresses and those of foam rubber, the number produced totalled 106,000, valued at £521,000 compared with 112.000 ♦ value £578 000) in 1955-56.
