Exchange On Cheques

Sir, —Many New Zealanders on holiday in the British Isles have no doubt had the same pleasant experience as I had when transferring cheques there. I wished to transfer about £ 1600 from Dublin to a branch of a New Zealand bank in London. My bank had no branch in Eire, but the Irish bank from whom I made the inquiry offered to transmit the money without charge, and this was done. Payment made by cheque anywhere in Britain from a London cheque book never needed payment of exchange.— Yours, etc., » P.M.N. January 20, 1958.
