SECRETARY “NOT SURPRISED”

No Statement Till Monday (New Zealand Press Association! WELLINGTON, January 21. The secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association (Mr A. C. W. Mantel]-Harding) said today he was not surprised at the rejection of New Zealand’s entry from the European zone as on every previous occasion Hew Zealand had entered a Davis Cup team it had been accepted. Last year 11 countries were dropped from the European zone draw, but New Zealand was allowed to remain in. He said no statement could be made till the association's meeting in Wellington next Monday. “New Zealand, when it has played for the cup, has always been in the European zone. I doubt if we will try to enter the American zone," he said. The chairman of the association (Mr F. S. Ramson) was not available for comment.
