Lawn Tennis EUROPEAN ZONE OF CUP

New Zealand is one of six nations left out of the draw for the 1958 European Davis Gup competition made last evening by the president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia (Mr D. M. Ferguson). Thirty nations applied, but by regulation the entry in the zone is limited to 24. Countries left out were Argentina, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Rumania, and Ireland. These six have the right to transfer their entries to the American Zone (North Section) which will close of February 15 with the draw no later than February 25. Of the 24 nations accepted for the European Zone draw, eight— Belgium, Italy, Britain, "Sweden Mexico, France, Denmark, and Poland—go straight into the second round. Countries in the first round draw are Luxembourg, Finland. Switzerland, Austria, India Monaco, Czechoslovakia, Jugoslavia, Brazil, Hungary, ’Germany, the Netherlands, Chile, Turkey Egypt and Spain.
