Beaton To Meet Scanlan
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 9.
The heavy-punehing Samoan Tuna Scanlan, who recently knocked out Billy Beazley to win the middle-weight title, will meet the light heavy-weight champion of New Zealand, Charlie Beaton, in an open-air fight at Rugby Park, New Plymouth, on Saturday, February 15. The contest will be promoted by the New Plymouth Boxing Association. It will be of IS rounds. Beaton is challenging tor the middle-weight championship

York City, the third division team which is struggling to avoid relegation to the new fourth division next year, scored a shock win over Birmingham City in the third round of the English Football Association Cud at York today. There will have to be yet another replay in the tie between cupholders, Aston Villa, and second division Stoke City. They drew 1-1 at Stoke on Saturday and 3-3 at Villa Park, Birmingham, today, in spite of 30 minutes extra time. Results in today’s football Association Cup matches were:— Third Round*—York City 3, Birmingham City 0. Third round replays:— Chariton Athletic 1, Huddersfield Town 0. Barnsley 0, Hull City 2.. Southend United 2, Liverpool 3. Aston Villa 3. Stoke City 3.
