New Plymouth’s lowest placing was its ninth placing in the seventh race (20 points), and the lowest recorded by Christchurch was also a ninth placing in the fourth race. Both races today were held in boisterous conditions and there were several casualties, two entrants withdrawing from the first race of the day and only five finishing in the second.

FROSTBITE TITLE Four Crews Still Have Chance

(New Zealand Press Association/ AUCKLAND, January 9. After five races, four centres could still win the national Frostbite yachting contest, which was continued today. Auckland has the best chance, and a first or second in the final race on Saturday morning would give it the championship. The other three crews still in the running are Hamilton, Manukau. and New Plymouth. There was a contrast in the conditions today.
