Table Tennis RESUMPTION OF COMPETITION
Six Teams Yet To Be Beaten
The summer competition of the Canterbury Table Tennis Association will start again after the Christmas break on Monday, at the Poultry Fanciers’ Hall, Selwyn street. Six rounds were played In the competition before Christmas. With just more than half the contest completed, competition is still strong for the top places, and only six teams have gone through without being beaten. Altogether, there are 41 tnree-man teams competing in the seven sections. The leading team in the first grade is University I (D. D. M. Stewart, J. A. Dowie and J. Moen). This team is only a point ahead of the second University team.
Points, to the end of the sixth round, are:—•
First Grade.—University I, 12; University 11, 10; Ministry of Works* and Avonside, 5; Lyttelton Watersiders and Papanui, 2. Second Grade, Section I.—StarSun, 12; Eagles 11, 10; Lyttelton Watersiders, 8; Eagles I, 4; Avonside, 2; Papanui, 0. * Second Grade, Section ll.—Dallington, 12; Avonside I, 8; South Christchurch and Eagles. 6; Star-Sun and Avonside 11, 2.
Third Grade, Section I.—South Brighton, 12; University I and Wharenui, 8; University 11, 4; Dallington and Avonside, 2. Third Grade, Section ll.—Eagles and South Christchurch, 10; Dallington, 8; Star-Sun. 4; Avonside and Wharenui, 2.
